French Inspired Office and Sitting Room

The other day Jesse and I were discussing what our dream future house will look like. Being the typical country boy, he described a house full of hand carved wood furniture, leather couches, and brass accessories. I listened politely, trying to refrain from letting my sheer disgust (and concern) show on my face. Once he was finished I told him about how I would like a mixture of textures, colors, and eras in our house. After a very thorough explanation, he shrugged and said he couldn’t envision it. Wanting to prove my point, I decided to edesign what our future home would look like, starting with my office.

My ideal office would have a separate entrance for clients and a little sitting area where guests (or Rosie and Ruby) could make themselves comfortable. Every room I design has to have some French flare and the black/white striped curtains, delicate gold furniture, and tufted seating adds just the right touch!

I would love to have a separate work station from my desk where I would have plenty of space to sprawl out all my floor plans, tile samples, fabric swatches, etc. A whole chalkboard wall would be great to quickly add any to-do notes, quick sketches, or inspiration and still have it organized in one place.

Something similar to this picture would be fantastic for my desk area: simple, clean, and organized. Even though it’s simple, I love how the designer added in touches of elegance and interest like with that crazy gorgeous gold screen!

Well if these pictures don’t help Jesse visualize what I want, I don’t know what will! Hopefully I can convince him that this is what he wants too and is much better than his original ‘man cave’ vision 😉

Wish me luck,
