Hello friends. I hope you all had a great weekend and are having a fabulous Monday so far. Did you get a chance to watch the Emmy’s last night? I was able to catch the red carpet preshow (which is really the only part I care about). There were some really beautiful gowns but what really stood out to me was all the bright colors. It seemed like this year, most actresses nixed the typical black gown and went for something more bold and bright. 
Crimson red was a big trend on the carpet. I like how all the gowns flow really well but I think Kat Dennings was being a little too bold (if you know what I mean).
Tangerine and yellow are colors I don’t really expect to see on the red carpet but I think all these ladies pulled it off very well. I especially love the applique work on the Monique Lhuillier gown worn by Ginnifer Goodwin and how the flower detailing is not just printed on but is actually 3-Dimensional. 
Probably the most common color on the red carpet this year was blue. Julianne Hough’s dress took a literal spin on a mermaid gown with the little seaweed-like petals on the bottom, very Little-Mermaid-chic. The color of Heidi Klum’s dress was gorgeous but I think she overdid it with two slits, it looks very awkward to me. Jena Malone shows Heidi how just one slit would have allowed her to show a little bit of skin while staying classy (and walking comfortably).
Eek. That was the first word out of my mouth when I saw Ashley Judd’s dress; it looks like a prom dress from the 90’s.. maybe she was going for vintage couture? The shape of the dress was just wrong for her body type and channeling her inner Snookie was not helping her hair situation either. For me, I think one of the best outfits was Kelly Osborne’s lilac dress paired perfectly with her lilac hair. Had you described this color combo to me ahead of time I would have predicted a My Little Pony train wreck but Kelly pulls it off flawlessly and that dress was obviously made for her.
Once the awards started I kind of tuned them out but I did manage to catch this little clip from the Modern Family cast. I thought it was too cute not to share!
